For those who don't know, Jesmond is a suburb just to the North of the city centre. In terms of numbers, it's one of the main student areas. It is definitely one of the most expensive areas to live in Newcastle, but my opinion, one of the best. No more than a 20 minute walk into the city or uni, and there's even a metro station if you can't be bothered to walk.

It is definitely one of the most expensive areas to live in Newcastle, but my opinion, one of the best. No more than a 20 minute walk into the city or uni, and there's even a metro station if you can't be bothered to walk. It's known for being quite an up-market area, some would say posh? But I don't mind. Because of the sheer number of young people around it has a great atmosphere. You are never too far away from a cool bar or pub if you fancy a drink, and there are loads of restaurants and shops to keep you well fed. I'd recommend taking the hike in rent prices and living there for at least one year while your at uni.
